If you’ve found those nasty little bugs in your child’s hair, you know it’s time to start looking for ways to kill lice quickly. Lice can be spread through contact with brushes, hair accessories like bows and hair clips, as well as coming in contact with other personal items that have been infested with the bugs. They can also spread to your child’s bedding and stuffed toys if you don’t take care of it quickly enough.

Natural Treatments For Your Child’s Hair

If you’re child has lice, you don’t have to use harsh pesticides to get rid of the problem. Here are some natural remedies that will kill the lice fast.

  7. Comb through the hair with a fine toothed lice comb.

Salt Bath

When you think of killing lice, you probably don’t think of salt. However, salt is an excellent way to get rid of lice. Applying salt to your child’s hair will kill the lice by removing the moisture from their bodies and dehydrating them.

Supplies You’ll Need

  • Salt
  • Vinegar
  • Spray bottle
  • Lice comb

Directions

  1. Combine ½ cup each of salt and vinegar in a spray bottle.
  2. Spray the solution in your child’s hair.
  3. Place a shower cap on your child and leave it in place for about two hours.
  4. Remove the shower cap and comb through your child’s hair with a fine toothed lice comb.
  5. Shampoo and condition your child’s hair as usual.

Treatment For Bedding And Toys

Once you’ve gotten rid of the bugs in your child’s hair, it will be time to tackle the bedding and toys. Remove all of the linens and wash them in hot water. Add about a cup of bleach to the wash water. While the linen is washing, place one cup of bleach and three cups of water in a spray bottle, and spray your child’s bed with the solution.

Place all of your child’s stuffed animals in a dark plastic bag and leave the bag sealed for about 30 days. The heat inside the bag will kill the lice so you won’t have to get rid of the toys.

Using these simple methods, your child and your home should be lice-free in no time at all. If you continue to have problems with lice in your home, you should contact a professional home pest control service. They will be able to come out and take care of the problem for you.
